Common Name:Grebe, Western
Scientific Name:Aechmophorus occidentalis
Family:Podicipedidae (Grebes)
Area:Upper Klamath Lake, Oregon
Date:July 11, 2012

Western Grebe and Clark's Grebe are very similar. On the Western, the black top continues below the eye and to the bottom of the bill. On Clark's the back top is above the eye and continues to the top of the bill.

The young can be seen riding 'piggy-back' on a parents back. How many chicks can you find?
