Location  Little Blitzen Gorge Hike

Where:  Steens Mountain

---"After a pleasant night and morning at South Steens Campground we select the Little Blitzen Gorge for a hike. We leave camp at 9:30 in shorts & hiking staffs to be prepared to ford the river. We hike from camp up the road 1/3 mile to the trailhead parking lot, then 1/3 mile more to the real trailhead. There we take the trail down into the mouth of the canyon."

---"After checking out the area a little on the south side, we put on our Tevas and ford the stream. Not bad, but plenty cold."

---"The north side of the ford is like an oasis, big old cottonwood trees and lots of green grass. It would make an ideal campsite or resting spot, but we hike on up the trail to see what else the canyon hold for us."

Statistics for the day: 6 miles, 5 hours, 1220 ft cumulative climb
