This Chemeketan hike led by Mary Coleman drew 20 enthusiastic hikers to the east end of the Columbia River Gorge to the Labyrinth Trail for a day of hiking in warm sunshine. The Labyrinth Trail is located in the Catherine Creek area, west of Hood River, on the Washington side of the Columbia River.

| negotiating the Labyrinth The trail winds its serpentine route through impressive columns of basalt and thickets of scrub oak, climbing up to grassy slopes overlooking the Columbia River Gorge.

| lunch was for relaxing Unseasonably dry conditions have left the trails bone dry, the grass slow to green, and the flowers more sparse than normal. But we enjoyed the warm sunshine, and great vistas provided by the good weather.
