Location  Crawfish Trail Survey #2

Where:  Cottage Grove Ranger District, Umpqua National Forest

This was a second survey trip to the Crawfish Trail. We started at our last trips turn-around point where the trail crosses Forest Service Road #2263, which is at about 2,600 feet elevation, and headed up hill.

This section like the last sees a lot of mountain bike use so the trail has a lot of muddy sections. There are no real viewpoints along the trail to be able to appreciate the surrounding area, but in general the trail travels through some nice 'woodsy' areas.

The question of the day was how far we could get up the trail. Snow and time had stopped me last week on the Adams Mountain Trail at about 3,600 feet, but today the snow levels were higher, and we were able to go as far as where the trail crosses FS Rd #2241 at about 4,400 feet. This gave us about a 6 mile day with 1,800 feet of climb.
