| Date: March 22, 2000 | | Location Salton Sea Loop | | Where: Borrego Palm Canyon Campground to Salton City RV & Spa | I didn't take any photos of this day, or I don't have them anymore, and it's a shame because in some ways it was the height of our trip. It was a non-event downhill ride to Salton City where we made a stop at a grocery store to buy some supplies. In the course of shopping a lady struck up a conversation with us and invited us to the Salton City RV Spa for their big St Patrick Day Dinner around noon. We arrived and were royally welcomed. They even offered us the opportunity to set up our tents on the lawn next to the pool for the night. We accepted and were delighted with such luxury.
The next day was all business to get around the North end of the Salton Sea and back to the Imperial View Spa and our base camp. We pedaled through the towns of Desert Shores, Mecca, North Shore and past North Shore State Park. We arrived back at camp at 2:30 with a total of 61 miles for the day and a total trip mileage of 285. |
