Location  Memaloose Hills Hike

Where:  Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area

On this weekend get-a-way, Jeanette & I camped with friends Michael & Annie O'Shaugden at Memaloose State Park. After a breakfast in Mosier at the Wildflower Café we drove to the Memaloose Rest Area on I-84 for our day's hike in the Memaloose Hills.

Part way up the slopes of Hudson Hill we paused to enjoy the view across the Columbia River to the Washington side with the green hills of the Catherine Creek area.

Down the south slope of Castilleja Hill we made our way through thick fields of yellow flowering Balsam Root.

It was a great day for photographing wildflowers, and I was able to add good photos of Blue-eyed Mary, Bigheaded Clover and Ballhead Waterleaf.

For more information on the Memaloose Hills area check out my April 25, 2002 Memaloose Hills Trip Journal.
