The Shones Bros., Jim & Tim

There are many things I enjoy about having a website, one of the things that continues to amaze me the most is the connections with other people that I stumble upon. Today's experience is a case in point. I had come back to Marion Lake to fish again, hoping to have the luxury of good weather after the poor weather I had endured on Tuesday. Being by myself, I didn't know if I would necessarily take any photos or make a Trip Journal entry. But then something happened. I had just returned to shore after a morning of fishing from my pack raft, when one of the two other fishermen in rafts rowed over and asked,
'Say, you're not by chance the guy with the Internet site are you?'
'Well yes', I replied 'I do have a website'.
'The one in the parking lot with the Cascade Ramblings sticker in the window?' he further clarified.
'Yes that's me'!
Thus began my conversation with Jim Shones, and his brother Tim who soon rowed over and joined us. As it turns out, Tim's girl friend, Cindy Barnes, had seen my website address on my vehicle's back window in Salem on Wednesday. She passed on the site information to Tim and he in turned told his brother Jim. They are long time fans of Marion Lake having fished it for many years, even in the snow and through the ice. When I asked what other lakes they like to fish, Jim said, 'This is pretty much it'. To which Tim nodded his consent. I left feeling like I had made two new friends. By the way, the photos only show the results of a little of their time in the morning fishing, I'm pretty sure they caught more and larger fish yet in the afternoon.
