Location  Dune Lake Hike

Where:  Siuslaw National Forest

While watching the morning weather forecast on TV, Jeanette noticed that the forecast for the coast was for sunshine while the forecast for the Willamette and Umpqua valleys was for fog. So, she suggested a hike at the coast!

I selected hiking a section of the Sutton Trails to Dune Lake and Alder Lake. Parking at the Sutton Beach parking lot, we hiked inland on the Sutton Trail, turned off on the Alder-Dune Trail, and continued to Dune Lake where we paused for lunch.

After lunch we walked on over to Alder Lake before retracing our steps on the Alder-Dune Trail. Along the way we could not resist stopping to pick some ripe Evergreen Huckleberries.

I also got a good photo of the fruit on Hairy Manzanita.

Statistics for the day:
Distance - 5.5 miles
Accumlative Climb - 705 feet
