Notes: | Cape Mountain once a grassy knob, served as a fire lookout starting in 1932. The lookout structure was destroyed in 1957, and the trees have grown in on three sides, but a wonderful view to the west out to the Pacific Ocean still remains. The trails to the top are a part of a large network of some 17 miles of trails known as the Coast Horse Trails. However don't let that discourage you, they are great trails to hike on. |
Route: | From Florence, take Highway 101 north for 5 miles. Turn right and climb for 3 miles to the Dry Lake Trailhead. |
